Outdoorとoutdoorsの使い方・違い

Outdoorとoutdoorsの使い方は、indoorとindoorsの使い方とほぼ同じです。

 

 

Outdoorは形容詞として使うので、例えば、

 

Tennis practice was held on the outdoor courts yesterday.

 

My neighbor’s cat is an outdoor cat.

 

 

Outdoorsは副詞として使います。

 

Would you like to eat outdoors on the deck since the weather’s nice?

 

Does anyone play table tennis outdoors?

 

 

 
そして、indoorsとちょと違ってoutdoorsは名詞としても使えます。

 

I love the great outdoors!

間違っている使い方は、

 

Let’s stay indoor today.

(should be “stay indoors”)

 

I practiced golf indoor yesterday.

(should be “practiced golf indoors)

 

 

Indoorsは副詞として使います。

 

Let’s stay indoors since the weather’s terrible today.

 

The team practiced indoors at the facility.

 

 

 
 

間違っている使い方は、

 

Table tennis is an indoors sport.

(should be “indoor sport”)

 

There is an indoors putting green at his house.

(should be “indoor putting green”)

Anywayかanyways?　正しい方は？

Anywayかanyways?　違いは何でしょう？　どっちが正しいでしょうか？

 

スタンダードの英語だと、anywayが正しいです。


 

Informalの英語でanywaysは使われていますね。映画とかテレビでよくあります。

 

因に、意味は同じです: In any case等。

 

しかし、formal writing では、anywaysは避けましょう。

 

ある人達は、anywaysが嫌いなので、ビジネス英会話では、使わない方が良いと思います。

 

特に、面接とか履歴書では、絶対に避けましょう。場合によって、面接で落ちる理由でもあるらしいです。

Inventoryの発音　ビジネス英会話

Inventoryは、ビジネス英会話・英語勉強でよく使う単語ですね。


Mastering the American Accent

発音は

 

in-vuhn-tohr-eeですが（音声を聞く）、よくあるミスをカタカナで書いてしまうと、

 

in-vuhn-トリー

 

みたいなミスです。Inventory の to　（ト）が短すぎます。音声を聞く

 

またカタカナで書いてしまいますけど、もうちょとマシな発音は、

 

in-vuhn-トー(オ）リー


 
カタカナ発音はやっぱり避けたいので、本当に正しいのは、

 

in-vuhn-tohr-ee です。 音声を聞く

 

Tohrを充分に伸ばしましょう。
